RFP for Rails Development Project - Portland, OR

Description:

In this proposal, Ride Connection seeks respondents interested in continuing the development of one of its open source initiatives, the WiseGuide travel training management tool, and expanding it to integrate the needs of a new travel coaching program. In addition Ride Connection seeks continued support for its growing web-based service tracking infrastructure.

Required skills:

◦ Minimum 3 years experience or educational equivalent in the following areas:
◦ Experience in implementing open source software, including managing source code repositories
◦ SQL, database design and optimization
◦ Proficiency with Linux, Apache, and Postgres
◦ Designing, building, and deploying Rails data-centric web applications
◦ Web user interface and user interaction design
◦ Agile development techniques
◦ In-depth understanding of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Ruby, and the principles of dynamic web design
◦ Excellent organization and project management skills

Desired skills:

◦ Familiarity in working with non-profit and social service organizations
◦ Familiarity with transportation applications or travel demand management
